【Paragraph 1】The harsh conditions in desertsare intolerable for most plants and animals. Despite these conditions, however,many varieties of plants and animals have adapted to deserts in a number ofways. Most plant tissues die if their water content falls too low: thenutrients that feed plants are transmitted by water; water is a raw material inthe vital process of photosynthesis; and water regulates the temperature of aplant by its ability to absorb heat and because water vapor lost to theatmosphere through the leaves helps to lower plant temperatures. ■Watercontrols the volume of plant matter produced. ■The distribution of plantswithin different areas of desert is also controlled by water. ■Some areas,because of their soil texture, topographical position, or distance from riversor groundwater, have virtually no water available to plants, whereas othersdo.■

【通用理论】

插入句子题掌握好方法后，多数难度并不高。请大家记好三步骤：1，单句逻辑信号词；2，先总后分；3，承上启下；4，排除法


【本题实践】

1，先阅读黑体单句，寻找逻辑信号词， 本句有标志：for this reason（因此-因果逻辑）。单句语义“因此，沙漠中的植物总量比同样面积的温带森林中植物少100倍”，空格前是原因。

2，然后各个空格前进行核对，实践之后，发现2空前写到：水控制了植物的总量，正好呼应单句for this reason承上因果逻辑（单句：因此，沙漠中的植物总量比同样面积的温带森林中植物少100倍）。答案：3。


【干扰点设计】

有些同学会错选3或者4空，但仔细阅读会发现，从2空后开始到最后，写的是沙漠内部不同地区的水量对植物的影响，而不是单句黑体句所写的沙漠和温带森林的对比。对因果对象的核对，很重要。
