1.use reading strategies to summarize the main idea of each paragraph and draw the mind map;
2.know ways of writing used in the text and and try using them to illustrate a point;
3. learn to develop a critical attitude towards the benefits and problems brought by the development of FRT.

1.How to summarize the main idea of each paragraph and draw the mind map usingreading strategies;
2. How to identify the ways of writing and their purposes.

Warming up

Students’ Activities

Answer the two questions:
(1)How do people usually unlock their smartphones?
(2)What do you know about FRT?

Aims

To arouse Ss' interest and activate their own knowledge of the topic.


While-reading

Students’ Activities

1.Readthe text quicklyand summarize the main idea of each paragraphwith the help of the reading strategies.

Aims

To practise the skill of skimming.


Students’ Activities

2.Read para.1and answer the two questions:

(1)What information is closely related tothe topic in Para.1?
(2)What is their relationship to the following three paragraphs?

Aims

To better understandthe first paragraph’s relationship to the following three paragraphs.


Students’ Activities

3.Think about the questions below:

(1)Why does the author mention “Faces communicate feelings.” at the beginning?

(2)How doesthe author explain “Your face can identify you.”?

Aims

To identify the ways of writing used in Para.1 and their purposes.

4.Work in groups and finish the mind map and the table on the worksheet.

Aims

To practise reading in more detail to find the required information.

5. Share the work as a group and discuss some possible questions if necessary.

Aims

To gaina better understanding of the main points of each paragraph and their relations.


Post-reading

Discuss the news and illustrate the point about it by using some of the ways of writing learned as a group.

To learn to develop a critical attitude towards the development of FRT.


Homework

Students’ Activities

Write the point down and use some of the ways of writing learned to illustrate it as much as possible.

To better consolidate what have been learned.
