Until 2008, Andreas Heinz studied vehicle and engine technology with the main subjects combustion engines and automotive mechatronics at the University of Stuttgart. Andreas Heinz finished his studies with a diploma thesis with the topic "Creation of an intelligent breakout box for integration into a test system (vehicle diagnostics, embedded controllers, C and Java programming)".

Andreas Heinz then worked at Continental Temic Microelektronik until 2013 in the field of research and development in ECU programming for dual-clutch transmissions and electric motors.

In 2013, Andreas Heinz moved to the "Forschungsinstitut für Kraftfahrwesen und Fahrzeugmotoren Stuttgart" where he has been working as a research assistant since then.
