His family isn't large. 他的家庭规模不大。（家庭作为一个整体抽象概念来讨论）

The family now live in London. 那家人现在住在伦敦。（具体到家庭成员，因为住在伦敦的不可能是“家庭”这个抽象概念，而是具体的每个家庭成员）

The classconsists of45 pupils.（班级作为一个整体抽象概念）

这个班由45个学生组成。

The class areattending English lecture now.（在上课的是具体的学生，不可能是“抽象概念”在上课。）

这个班在上英语课。

说实话，这样细扣语法没啥意义，比如为了避免单复数搞不清，

The classareattending English lecture now. 可以改为The students of theclassare attending English lecture now.

这样就不用纠结单复数了~

但是对于police，我们要记住Police（P大写）和the police都是复数名词：
Policeare stillsearching for the murder weapon.

警方仍在寻找凶器。

The policewere called.

已经报警了。

本题选择C，their 努力都是具体人做出的
