I'm Li Hua, from Class 1 Grade 9. In my opinion, the Great Wall is the cultural symbol of Beijing. It lies in the north of Beijing and looks like a dragon flying in the mountains. I think it is one of the most beautiful man-made buildings in China.

I think it can be a symbol of Beijing for three reasons. First, it shows part of our history. （Chinese people used to build walls to keep the enemies out in the ancient times.）Second, it showsthe great wisdom of ancient Chinese people. (They didn’t have modern machines like we do now, but they managed to build such magnificent walls on the top of the mountains, running for thousands of miles.) There are many changes in a person’s life. One change happened in my life was when we had to stay at home for several months in 2020 because of Covid-19. At first, I felt unhappy and lost. (I couldn’t get up for the online classes and I couldn’t finish my homework.) Then, I realized it was a waste of life doing nothing but sleeping every day. I had to welcome this change in my life and consider it an opportunity learn and grow. I asked my parents to help me get up early every day. I also spent some time talking with teachers and friends so that I could solve my problems I met in study. (I even enjoyed doing exercise and sharing the videos with friends.) Gradually, I felt happy and healthy again.
